Sunnyvale Community Players is pleased to present ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, winner of the 2018 Tony Award for Best Revival of a musical in streaming format opening on December 5, 2020, and continuing through December 20, 2020.

This sweeping, universal tale features Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl in search of her place in the world and is ready to risk it all for love. Guided by the mighty indigenous Gods of the island, Ti Moune sets out on a remarkable journey to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.

The vision of two-time Tony Award-nominated director Michael Arden (Spring Awakening revival), and acclaimed choreographer Camille A. Brown (NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live), ONCE ON THIS ISLAND soars with a score that bristles with life from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, (Tony Award-winning songwriters of Anastasia and Ragtime).

“This wonderful musical with its intimate journeys and soaring score covers so much of the human condition that we just had to find a way to present it, now more than ever,” says director Gary Stanford, Jr. “We cast outstanding performers and were due to premiere it in October but the COVID 19 pandemic has shut down theaters from Broadway to most community theaters. I’m so excited that Sunnyvale Community Players has invested in innovative technology that leverages state-of-the-art 4K video, animation, and sound recording and editing compliant with County-approved safe production standards so theater lovers can stream and experience this award winning musical in the comfort of their own homes.“

ONCE ON THIS ISLAND starts streaming through ShowTix4U on Saturday, December 5, 2020 and runs through Sunday, December 20. 2020. The production is produced as a fully staged virtual theatrical experience filmed live in 4K and edited for streaming. Content is appropriate for children of all ages.
