Lustrous Tone and Fearless Theatrical Commitment

ezzo-soprano Camille Sherman captivates audiences on both sides of the Atlantic with a voice that marries lustrous tone to fearless theatrical commitment. Currently an ensemble artist at Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, she has brought roles like Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Dorabella in Così fan tutte to life on the international stage. Yet, the road to the opera house began with a redirection in the South Bay.
In 2011, Sherman faced her first true artistic heartbreak. She was unable to join her twin sister at their dream school, the Berklee College of Music, so she regrouped at West Valley College. At the time, she felt lost. Yet, that pivotal year in the voice performance program shifted her focus from vocal jazz to classical vocal performance. With the encouragement of instructors like Lou De La Rosa, she transitioned to the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and eventually the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Reflecting on her growth, Sherman admits that early on, she might have practiced only to prepare for performances, but her path from West Valley to various conservatories, through years of navigating setbacks and rejections, has deepened her perspective. As she begins to break through into a major career, she has internalized the difference between discipline and devotion.

Quebec, Sherman views her early uncertainty as the foundation for her success.
